Banff - Peyto Lake

We ventured next to the other famous lake, Lake Louise, however I didn’t think there was anything special. The crowds definitely didn’t make it any better.

Going another 30 minutes north took us to Peyto Lake. It really was such a joy to drive along the highways inside Banff. Every twist and turn yields new stunning views of a new mountain range.

The drive was so pretty I had to stop and take a picture on the road.

Once we got there, it was a short trail to get to the Peyto Lake lookout, which was, of course, full of people clamoring for views. However, a short trek further down the mountain and we’re completely alone. I took a photo each with my arsenal of 3 lenses: 56 mm, 23 mm, and 9 mm in order.

You could see all the jagged peaks cascading down into the distance and melting into the clouds.

Yes, the lake really was that blue. I waited a very long time for the clouds to clear up, but they were quite stubborn.

A wide angle featuring majestic crepuscular rays pouring over the mountain range…if only I could cut that tree down in the foreground…
